Physical Preparation for Squash

This is especially true if you're a youth, amateur or aspiring collegiate player as the competition, tactics and technology has transformed the dynamics of the game.

Learning how to train effectively for squash extremely difficult, especially for the average player.  Even if you are able to sift through everything online, you still have to design a program that will transfer to the court. Exercise selection, reps, sets, rest, training frequency, training volume, recovery, nutrition/supplementation, injury history, training age and playing ability/level of competition all have to be considered, monitored and adjusted for. If developing a plan after considering all of the above points sounds difficult, thats because it is.

How will it work?

When you become an online coaching client of Global Squash Coach, you will be provided with all the programming, information and support you need to take your squash performance to the next level. However please note that this program is not for everyone. There are no magical pills, or potions, just consistent training, smart programming and hard work.

We begin with an initial consultation via Skype/WhatsApp. We will discuss your goals, clarify any aspects of the screening questionnaire that will be filled out prior to the consultation taking place, collect any other relevant data and then establish a plan of attack. Following the consultation, I will design your tailored program according to your training likes/dislikes, training and injury history, individual strengths and weaknesses, training environment and current playing/work/school schedule.

The program arrives in your inbox in convenient PDF format, complete with Youtube links with video demonstrations for every single exercise you’ll be doing. Before you start the program, we’ll organise a secondary consultation via Skype up to answer any questions you have, make any modifications if required, and then you are ready to begin training. Once you are up to speed and start training we will have a weekly check in to discuss your progress and adjust your program if needed for optimal progress.

Throughout the duration of your program you can rely upon unlimited 24/7 consultation with me. If you have a question or you just need some support or motivation, I will always on hand via email or phone. Just contact me and I’ll get back to you straight away- unless you’re in a completely different time zone.

Standard Gym Membership: Let’s start with the obvious. A gym has no interest or incentive to see you succeed at your goal. All the gym cares about is collecting your weekly or monthly membership fee. If you want to go this route, good luck in finding a good experienced trainer that has worked with squash athletes. Lastly, lets talk about personal training prices. Due to the nature of 1-on-1 personal training, you will likely pay a minimum of $100 per hour that you spend with your trainer, with prices increasing up to $200 dollars per hour if you live in a city. This will typically be packaged in a way that you will have to see them a couple times a week for a set amount of weeks. If you do the math of a $100 dollar session, twice per week for 12 weeks, this quickly adds up to a whopping $2400. For this price, you could purchase 18 months worth of online programming from Global Squash Coach. You will also know that when you sign up to Global Squash Coach, that you will receive coaching from someone who is a qualified Squash Coach, Strength and Conditioning Coach and holds a Bachelors Degree in Sport Science.

Online Fitness Templates: With online training templates, you are just buying another cookie cutter approach. Training templates vary in price from $50 to $150 dollars for a program. Unfortunately, these templates do not consider the sport specific needs of squash, your training/injury history and are not designed to compliment your current training, school or work schedule.
